The proponents of the Calaveras Local Fire Protection Tax Initiative are Dana M. Nichols of San Andreas, Robert T. Dean of Mokelumne Hill, and Skip and Shannon Sharp of Mountain Ranch. Along with Faith Hall, they also are members of the Calaveras Local Fire Protection Committee.
Dana M. Nichols
Dana retired after a career as a newspaper reporter and editor. He serves on the board of San Andreas Fire Protection District and also drives the mobile breathing support unit (air bottle refill) for the district. He lives in San Andreas with his wife Ruth, who is the San Andreas Fire chaplain.
Skip and Shannon Sharp
Skip and Shannon are longtime residents of Mountain Ranch where they chose to raise their four children. They live on 180+ acres of Ag preserve which has been in Skip’s family for over 65 years. As Butte Fire survivors, they have experienced firsthand the need for supported fire services. Skip is a custom wood worker and owner of Sharp Designs, and Shannon is an educator, volunteer, and leader of the Mountain Ranch 4-H Club.

Robert T. Dean
Bob is a former Calaveras County Water District board member. He was a founding member of the Calaveras County Resource Conservation District. He serves on the board of the Mother Lode Land Trust. Bob lives on Jesus Maria Road in the heart of Calaveras County with his wife, Judy, where the two of them are developing a botanic garden.
